Winter active

Flat and steep slopes, charming side valleys, the romantic and magical atmosphere of the huts and plenty of snow are only some features of the impressive landscape around the Ortler.

It is especially appreciated by the people who spend their holiday in our hotel and who want to enjoy the winter fun to its fullest.

Skiing

There are five ski areas in the Vinschgau Valley, that are part of the Vinschgau Ski Arena and offer skiing fun on 133 km of slopes with just one ski pass.

The Sulden glacier ski area with its fun park, slopes and deep-snow slopes extends up to an altitude of over 3,000 m above sea level and has a total of 40 km of slopes for passionate skiers and snowboarders.

It was awarded the fourth-best ski area in the Alps in 2014 and is located together with the Trafoi ski area in the Stelvio National Park.

Especially families enjoy the 10 km of perfectly groomed slopes in the small Trafoi ski area.

Watles is one of the sunniest ski areas in South Tyrol and part of the Ortler Ski Arena. It offers a total of 18 km of slopes, two thirds of which are classified as moderately difficult, one third as easy.

The ski areas Haider Alm and Schöneben at the Reschenpass are located at the border triangle around the Reschen.

Six lifts and 40 kilometers of varied slopes are available for skiers in the Schöneben ski area. A very special highlight is the downhill run to the shores of Lake Reschensee.

In the Haider Alm ski area, 20 km of mainly medium-heavy, snow-assured slopes await winter sports enthusiasts.

Cross-country skiing

Cross-country skiers get their money’s worth in our hotel in Val Venosta. You can find easy cross-county courses in the idyllic Val Martello, around the lakes Reschen and Haidersee or high alpine cross-country courses in the Stelvio National Park, Langtaufers and Schlinig. The cross-country ticket Vinschgau offers access to all cross-country skiing areas.

The Slingia Nord Ski Center near Watles is a highly-rated spot for athletes from many countries, who meet here every year for international competitions. The 15 km long route is perfectly suited for both classical style and skating.

Sledge runs

The Vinschgau is characterized by well-prepared, child-friendly sledge runs which offer a panoramic view of the surrounding snow-covered mountain peaks.

The 4 km-long natural sledge run in the Watles ski area and the illuminated sledge run in St. Valentin provide winter fun for the whole family.
